New Year

The ball has dropped! It's official, 2010 has begun. I remember in the 1960s thinking we would never see 1980s. There was such a fear in those days that Communism was going to take us over; the Lord would surely be returning any moment...such terrifying things to think about for a child of 10-11 years old.

Thinking about what resolutions I should be making, but can't seem get to excited about it right now. I have the flu and I am just trying to keep my nose from running away. LOL!

I would like to lose 40lbs (my doctor would like that too :), I should write a book, I should try to market my greeting cards, I should .... Well, you get the picture. Some of you are in the same boat as I; my spirit is willing but my flesh is weak.

I would like to do is read more good books. My husband is always after me, wanting to know why I don't read like I use to do. It wasn't unusual for me to have 2-3 books going at once. I'd like to exercise more often, you know, quit being a couch potato. Organizing my craft room would be another great accomplishment! So many things to do, but aren't we always doing?! Which brings up the thought that I would like to spend more time reading and dwelling on the scriptures and old hymns. I mean beyond the normal daily devotions. I would love to be able to sit under some of the old timers once again, like J.W. Adcock. I took an Ephesians class that he taught at GBS and it was so wonderful. He knew how to make the scriptures come alive and many a day we all would be weeping before the end of the class. Brother Millard Downing was another one who could paint a word picture as he preached. You could see the characters of the story in your minds eye as he applied the truths of the scriptures. The young preachers now days have learned "how" to preach, but they do not have the same depth of spirit that these gentlemen had. Maybe I'm prejudice, but maybe not.

Whatever our wishes for the New Year, it will be good to know that if we walk with the Lord, He will lead us moment by moment, and we can rest assured He will not fail us now.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Wishing you and yours dreams that come true.
