Be all you can be in Christ...

It's amazing how much one can fit into a day, twenty-four hours. It seems like such a short span of time, especially when there is so much to do. To be more productive and successful in our endeavors we all know that we need to prioritize, and then we need to prioritize again. Choosing the "cream of the crop" so to speak of tasks to be done, and of course, the absolute daily, necessary tasks have to fit in somewhere. In reality, we cannot get everything done every day. If we do one necessary task each day, by the end of the week we can be wowed by what we have accomplished. I read an article that suggested setting a timer for 15 minutes and working on one necessary task for that specified time. Or, in reverse, spend 15 minutes doing something that isn't absolutely necessary, but you'd like to do. This could work either way. Might try it. I use to keep a log/journal of what I did each day, and when I would get discouraged at not getting things done, I would read the journal and see that I actually was getting things accomplished. A spark of encouragement would give me strength to carry on the next day.
With the New Year fast approaching, we all have certain resolutions on our minds; new goals and desires that we would like to accomplish this year. I want to live each day to its fullest, but this year I want what I do each day to really count, to really mean something, to really be helpful to myself as well as others. It seems there is so much that really doesn't matter and we fill our thoughts and lives with meaninglessness. Such a waste - of time, money, energy and effort. And what impact are we making for Christ?!
If you believe like I do, God has put us here for a purpose. My prayer is that God will give each of us the wisdom, desire, determination, and zeal to really make an impact on each new day this year. Let's put busyness aside and really make every effort count. Doing is not always productive, we can be doing and it's all the wrong thing to be doing.
If you, like me, keep waiting for your mate, your friend, your sister, your brother to get the same vision you have, to want to accomplish the same things you want to accomplish, forget it! It's probably never going to happen. God has given you the desires within your heart and within my heart and we need to move beyond the comfort zone and security of family and friends and do what God is challenging us to do. (I'm preaching to myself.) A little scary, but just think of the thrill of success.
I am looking forward to the sweet reward of peace and satisfaction when I accomplish God's task for me this year, whatever that may be. I am not making any New Year's resolutions. I am asking God to help me to be all I can be in Christ each new day, and to finish the task He has for me to do.
Wishing you and yours a blessed New Year!
